Immerse yourself in dance and choreography at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels in the upcoming TRAINING (2019-2022) or STUDIOS (2019-2021) programmes

Higher education for young dancers and dance-makers to start in September 2019
The Training programme only opens up every three years and is aimed to students between the ages of 18 and 23 who want to prepare themselves for the world of professional dance.

The three-year Training cycle aims to help students gain insight in the technical foundations of contemporary dance and the specific P.A.R.T.S. approach, which is characterized by the combination of ballet and release technique, a focus on physical awareness, theatre and musical abilities, creative development and theoretical reflection. The school aims to strengthen and enrich students’ dance skills in the broadest sense, to expose them to professional working practice under the guidance of experienced artists and teachers, and to support and nurture their creative voices. Key considerations are to teach and encourage students to think, to research, and to communicate; and to develop an open mind and a caring attitude.

Until the end of March 2019, pre-selection auditions for the new TRAINING program 2019-2022 will be held in different cities in Europe and beyond. The process consists of two phases: a one-day pre-selection, and the subsequent final audition week in Brussels from April 9-14. Participating in the full audition week is necessary in order to be selected for the programme.

A new format for the development of choreographic practice to start in September 2019

STUDIOS is a two-year fulltime programme aimed at young dance-makers and choreographers who have obtained at least a Bachelor’s degree in dance or choreography, and who want to devote more time and space to develop a choreographic practice. P.A.R.T.S. aims for a group of 12 participants between 21 and 27 years old. The group will consist of graduates from the previous P.A.R.T.S. Training cycle and participants recruited through an audition process.

To enter the professional field of contemporary dance and to sustain oneself as a young maker, is quite a challenge. The more precise and articulated one’s vision and practice is when one enters the field, the better chances one has to build a sustainable career. The STUDIOS programme gives young dance-makers space, time and focus to develop a personal creative practice in the field of contemporary dance. Dance classes, movement research workshops, choreography master classes, theoretical reflection, self-directed research and exchange projects in Taiwan and Senegal will all be components that will provide more in-depth knowledge and awareness to the participant’s artistic vision and creative skills. The program has a strong collective element and actively supports collaboration and co-creation.

The audition for the STUDIOS program consists of 2 phases:
Submission of a personal dossier before April 15, 2019, and a subsequent audition at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels between June 5 and 9. Participating in the final audition is necessary in order to be selected for the programme.
