2022 Participants

We are pleased to announce the participants of the first edition of PARASOL. This group of five emerging dancers and performers will get the opportunity to work with two choreographers on two pieces to be developed and performed at TQW. In 2022, PARASOL will be supervised by Ian Kaler and Alix Eynaudi, who have selected the participants.

Alex Bailey studied at Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam, with an MFA in Fine Arts and has been living in Vienna since 2015. He has been invited to show his work, created together with Krõõt Juurak, at brut Vienna, Dansehallerne, Copenhagen, and MDT, Stockholm. At TQW the artist duo presented the performance and research project CODOMESTICATION.

Camilla Schielin is a dancer and performer based in Vienna. She studied contemporary dance and performance both in Austria and Germany and has since worked with, among others, Nick Mauss on a project for the Museum Ludwig in Cologne as well as with Doris Uhlich in Vienna. In 2021, she showed her solo take me to my house as part of the Rakete festival at TQW.

Júlia Rúbies Subirós is a dancer from Barcelona, living in Barcelona and Brussels. She is interested in practicing expanded choreographic approaches as spaces of transformation with special emphasis on spaces of practice as catalyzers of affective community-building. A graduate from P.A.R.T.S., Julia is collaborating with Nathaniel Moore, Michiel Vandevelde, Marco d’Agostin, Lili M. Rampre among others and presented her own work at Mercat de les Flors, Barcelona, among others.

Shahrzad Nazarpour grew up and studied theatre and art in Iran. Since 2020 she has been studying Transmedia Art at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna. Her solo performance Hijab offline was part of the first edition of Skin – performance festival for young adults at Dschungel Wien.

Theresa Scheinecker studied psychology and psychotherapy. After her master’s degree, she immersed herself in the freestyle community of hip-hop culture in the US. Her movement experiences are mainly styles such as breaking, popping and tutting. In 2021 she participated in some research formats at ImPulsTanz.

PARASOL is a paid further training programme for young artists to experience and benefit from not only rehearsal period of three months with each of the choreographers, but also to educate themselves in exchange with each other, the choreographers and programmers. In addition to that, they can attend all kind of events offered at TQW: performances, body and performance practices and theory lectures.
