We can’t be together at the moment, we can’t dance together, we can’t come together. But what if we expand our understanding of being together, if we deconstruct it and reconstruct it in a new way. Even if we cannot meet physically or be in the same space at the same time, we can still create a common space, a space of artistic encounter.
For Chain Reaction, we have invited ten Vienna-based artists to create this shared space in TQW’s Studio 1. Each of the invited will – only one at a time – make a performative statement of up to three minutes, to which the next person can respond in the form of movement or another artistic gesture on the following day. A camera, the only witness on the scene, will remain fixed on the same spot during these days and record the statements. What emerges is a choreography of accumulation that will be presented daily here (above) in this newsblog entry, starting 25 February.
