Chain Reaction

We can’t be together at the moment, we can’t dance together, we can’t come together. But what if we expand our understanding of being together, if we deconstruct it and reconstruct it in a new way. Even if we cannot meet physically or be in the same space at the same time, we can still create a common space, a space of artistic encounter.

For Chain Reaction, we have invited ten Vienna-based artists to create this shared space in TQW’s Studio 1. Each of the invited will – only one at a time – make a performative statement of up to three minutes, to which the next person can respond in the form of movement or another artistic gesture on the following day. A camera, the only witness on the scene, will remain fixed on the same spot during these days and record the statements. What emerges is a choreography of accumulation.

Participating artists: Alix Eynaudi, Laia Fabre, Philipp Gehmacher, Susanne Songi Griem, Florentina Holzinger, Krõõt Juurak, Julia Müllner, Judith Rohrmoser, Oleg Soulimenko, Dalia Touré
