Editorial October–December 2023

Dear audience, dear artists,

We invite you to explore a varied and packed programme at Tanzquartier Wien in the 2023/24 season.

Searching for sound and performance experiments that expand our perception, the first edition of the new LO AND BEHOLD series of events by Lewon Heublein, our Rakete curator, kicks off the season. The first edition features, among others, Abyss X, FRANKIE aka Franziska Aigner, well-known as a performer with Anne Imhof, and provides insights into Maria Metsalu’s new piece – to music by Artyom Astrov.

The choreographic platform CPA is a highlight in October. Initiated by TQW, it presents 30 artistic positions in a packed programme over three days, including performances, pitching sessions and film screenings at TQW, brut, Festspielhaus St. Pölten, Volkstheater Wien, Seestadt Studios and Der Betrieb.

In addition, several group pieces – by Olivier Dubois, Miet Warlop, Liquid Loft – as well as the next piece by PARASOL, the dance group of TQW, under the choreographic direction of Oleg Soulimenko await in the months from October to December. The performance programme is rounded off with no less exciting solos or duets by Krõõt Juurak, Maria Hassabi and Fanni Futterknecht.

The theory and lecture programme presents collaborations with Kunsthalle Wien (Ancestral Claims), MUK (Salon Différance) and Muslim*Contemporary, while the TQW Research Affiliation featuring Eva Egermann places a focus on Crip discourse.

Last but not least, the timetable of Body & Performance Practices boasts a new programme structure.

We look forward to welcoming you again this season. A subscription for TQW Halle G is available for all enthusiasts!
