A scene, your stage, my coma

Ingeborg Meier Andersen

is a Copenhagen-based choreographer, artist and showgirl. In her work, she urges to uphold a hybrid and immediate body seeking to emancipate systems of rigidity and invite humour and rhythm as a source of approachability towards a given medium or topic. Through her foundation as a trained dancer and with a BA in Choreography from SNDO, Meier Andersen seeks to challenge her own restrictions to embrace the unknown.

Sam Fuentes

is a Spanish visual artist who mainly works with film. The field of interest in his research on artistic practice is the subjective space left among the traces of affection, memory, and intimacy, as well as their interconnections and rendering in the film medium. The process is a key part of creation, giving each project’s method and development an implicit relevance because the ‘how’ shapes the meaning of each piece. His work has been exhibited in contemporary art centres such as ICA London, Glasgow Centre for Contemporary Arts, TEA Tenerife, Matadero, Madrid and mumok Kino, Vienna.

A scene, your stage, my coma

A scene, your stage, my coma is a portrayal of the singular body conditioned and eager to perform. Through invitations of proximity, the viewer follows a solo performer (Andersen) as she reveals cohabiting postures of the complexities and chameleonistic tendencies of a staged work life. Aware of the tangent between megalomania and imposter syndrome, the performance embraces the opaque absurdity of the relationship between viewer and performer in a solo setting. Filmed with 16mm film, the work transfers ephemerality in capsules of real-time onto the frame. The film is a tribute to showgirls with second thoughts, given the state of the world.
