Class/ism and the performing arts
Five people working in different positions, ways and roles in the (performing) arts in Vienna will gather for five meetings in June to share thoughts, experiences and priorities of action regarding classism in the artistic field. They will look at the diverse ways in which classism – explicitly or not – manifests itself, discuss strategies of response to classist discrimination, critically interrogate ways of working in dance from a class-aware perspective, think about the classist undercurrents of the categorisation of (some) dance as art and address accessibility in the world of contemporary performance. The lab will collect ideas, concepts and practices acting as a springboard for longer-term work on these topics.
