INHALE DELIRIUM EXHALE
A wave rises and breaks in empty space. The images culminate with the cadence of the tides, something small transforms into something larger-than-life. The most recent work by Belgian choreographer and artist Miet Warlop develops a powerful visual maelstrom created by an unequal community of six performers and 4,000 metres of fabric in constant movement. INHALE DELIRIUM EXHALE refers to the state of mind of inner turmoil, when a flood of images pours down before the mind’s eye, thoughts pile up in your head, and emotions overwhelm you. The fabrics flow, shift, bulge and overlap. With nods to Greek mythology, and not devoid of humour, this tour de force leads us into an impressive universe that provides a stage for human fears, desires and secrets.

born in 1978 in Tourhout, Belgium, studied multimedia arts at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Ghent and works in Ghent, Berlin, and Brussels. Her multiple award-winning works range between performance and installation. Warlop usually leads the audience into surreal worlds and weird experiments with perception. In 2012, she created Mystery Magnet, which has been shown more than a hundred times worldwide. Other widely discussed works include Big Bears Cry Too and Ghost Writer and the Broken Hand Break. After showing her audience favourite One Song: Histoire(s) du Théâtre IV at TQW in 2023, Miet Warlop will be back in Vienna with her latest work INHALE DELIRIUM EXHALE, which will be premiered at the Brussels Kunstenfestivaldesarts in May 2025.
