Kunst und Gewalt

Kunst und Gewalt is is the fourth edition of our event series Salon Différance – a cooperation between the Centre for Science and Research (ZWF) of the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna (MUK) and Tanzquartier Wien.

Kunst & Gewalt (Art & Violence) looks into artistic explorations of various phenomena and experiences of violence. It examines genres that traditionally imply depictions of violence, such as horror, as well as dramaturgies of subjugation and the relationship between violence and empowerment, e.g. in feminist art. Last but not least, it addresses the complicity between art and violent regimes or policies, such as propaganda art.
