LIVE

Billy Bultheel

is a composer and performance maker based in Berlin and Brussels. Coming from a classical conservatory background and academic studies in the performing arts, Bultheel has developed musical performances that unfold spatially. He practices an extended notion of composition, which includes performance, architecture and narrative as musical parameters next to harmony, rhythm and timbre. His practice combines heavy electronics with medieval, baroque polyphony and performance. He has worked in close collaboration as a performer and composer for Anne Imhof and has composed music for choreographer Michele Rizzo. Among his latest works are Unter (Schinkel Pavillon, 2021) in collaboration with the sculptor Tanya Viviana Abelson, Athens Song I–IV (Athens Biennial 2021), When Doves Cry (Disappearing Berlin Series, 2019) and Spat from My Mouth, a piano concerto at KW (Berlin, 2019).

Alexander Iezzi

is an artist and musician living in Berlin. His practice is based on transforming materials into scenes, figures, sound, and moving images to attain the surreal. The work begins with auditory and visual environments in which experiments are improvised and carried out, which then are later redesigned as artworks. Iezzi collects these materials, sounds, and music (sometimes also protagonists, such as his colleagues or stuffed animals) and redeploys them in order to question the typical forms of perception in psychology, identity, and politics. In recent years he has exhibited solo or together with other artists at KW, Berlin; MoMA, New York; Kunstinstituut Melly, Rotterdam; Galerija Močvara, Zagreb; and Halle Für Kunst Steiermark, Graz.

Through their collaborative project 33, Billy Bultheel and Alexander Iezzi further consolidate a partnership which has taken many forms within a visual, artistic spectrum. Their practice envelops performance art, music and installation while pinpointing, developing and elaborating the most meaningful and poignant marriages of the disciplines. Their differing backgrounds have informed the way that their long collaboration works – Bultheel with his conservatory training and Iezzi coming from DIY punk and experimental music scenes.
Their debut album 33–69 was released on C.A.N.V.A.S. in October 2022: a short but powerful rush of emotional states and bodily desires, translated into cerebral and carnal electronic compositions of EDM, noise and techno. 33–69 laments and commemorates the interruption of the simplicities, beauties and charm of mortal life in full Baroque splendour whilst also partaking in the final opportunities for carnal pleasure and orgiastic excesses in the earthly realm.
For their 33plugged concerts, Billy Bultheel & Alexander Iezzi are performing alongside cellist Patrick Belaga, as well as vocalists Ivan Cheng and Steve Katona.

Paul Ebhart presents Thesosung

Thesosung is a project by Paul Ebhart, who lives and works in Vienna. Sporadic musical interruptions laying over perpetual ostinatos complement this sonic world with expertise and dilettantism in a constant state of tension. Entirely devoted to loose structures and improvisation as a core element. Likewise striving for rhythmic repetition and synthetic sequences, supported by heavy signal processing. The first self-titled EP Thesosung was released in 2022.

Rosa Rendl
Always
EP release concert

The sound of Rosa Rendl’s new EP Always carries us through a blue and spheric-sounding otherworldliness that impresses through her piano play and immediacy of voice. Intimate as a heartbeat, Rosa Rendl creates transtemporal tone aesthetics and combines them with lyrics of great emotional authenticity. Always will be released on 17 March on the Vienna-based label Seayou Records.
