Mouth at Each End
In his performances, Alex Franz Zehetbauer beguiles with sophisticated melodies, strange vocal escapades and unexpected twists. His suggestion for the TQW dance group PARASOL: form a choir and bring a brand-new musical repertoire to the stage. An experiment in voice and collectivity, Mouth at Each End explores the many ways in which the world sings together and how the term ‘choir’ can be understood. It examines the conventional frameworks for group singing but also less classical formations: How does a restless audience or a round of friends at the dinner table munching and crunching away harmonise? This show will try polyphonic togetherness from different sides. With an insatiable appetite, Mouth at Each End stretches from the stage to your very seat – and consumes you with its songs.

born in 1990 in Brooklyn, creates performances, sonic choreographies, and songs. He studied vocal performance, choreography, acting, and composition at the Experimental Theater Wing / NYU Tisch School of the Arts and the International Theatre Workshop in Amsterdam. Currently, his work explores various figures that wield songs to host or gather. He infuses these figures or group bodies with trickster sensibilities to create performances that keep the audience teetering between the earnest and the absurd. Recent performances in 2024 include: Steirischer Herbst, Graz; C-Mine, Genk; Austrian Pavilion at the 15th Gwangju Biennale; Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles, Paris; Warehouse9, Copenhagen; Gessnerallee Zurich.
Starting in 2022, two choreographers will continuously work with a select group of five young dancers on a TQW Halle G production for three months each year. A hybrid artistic training project for the dance scene in Vienna and beyond, but also a mobile network of relations, an experimental setting focusing on the vital needs of ensemble productions: solidarity, collective experience, and conviviality. The 2025 participants are Carolina Cappelli, Snorre Elvin, Francesca Ferrari and dengling (鄧玲) levine, and Ingeborg Meier Andersen. More
