The tongue tracing the hand tracing the earth
Alongside large-scale dinner performances with the Palestine Hosting Society project, which Mirna Bamieh founded in 2018 and researches into lost recipes and food practices in Palestine, she has been developing smaller, more focused dinner experiences that weave together eating/interacting/sharing/storytelling and histories of dishes with pottery design, which she will present in Vienna for the first time. Her work has been featured on many platforms, such as Aj+, BBC, Hyperallergic, MoMA Ps1, ArteEast, Conde Nast Traveller, Chronogram, El Comodista, al Ahram and Yale Theater magazine.
is a Palestinian artist from Jerusalem. Her work attempts to understand and contemplate the ever-shifting politics while equally questioning notions of land and geographies of in-between temporality. In 2017, obtaining a Diploma in Professional Cooking made her develop works that use the mediums of storytelling and food for creating socially engaged projects through her art practice through The Palestine Hosting Society, a live art project she founded in 2018, as an extension of Mirna Bamieh’s research on the politics of disappearance.
