TQW DOC+

Winter Term 2022/23
Interdisciplinary, inter-university theorist forum on topics concerned with choreography, performance, body, art and politics at Tanzquartier Wien

TQW DOC+ is a monthly interdisciplinary, inter-university forum for theorists on topics concerned with choreography, performance, body, art and politics at Tanzquartier Wien. A meeting place for PhD and master’s students, theorists who want to distinguish themselves in the field, as well as newcomers and thinkers who are interested in discursive exchange (with or without a degree). In addition to promoting open debate and discussing methods and terminological definitions, there will also be an opportunity to present and discuss one’s research among friends and colleagues in a safe space. In addition to Zoom, we meet in the TQW library in line with current regulations.

Thu 06.10.
Marcel J.V. Kieslich will give us ‘direct’ insight into his use of an industrial robot as part of his artistic research into the performativity of digital technologies at Mozarteum Salzburg.
Julia Wolf is currently a doctoral candidate at the Royal College of Art in London. Her research postulates post-Newtonian analysis, New Materialism and the eroticisms of the senses as ‘radical matter’ – a practice-oriented approach to contemporary philosophy, remote sensing technology and choreography. Wolf draws attention to the emergence of new forms of intimacy by analysing the intersections of human and algorithmic processes.

Fri 04.11.
Kinga Szemessy is a joint PhD candidate at Mozarteum Salzburg and PLUS (Salzburg). She will talk about ‘Choreographing spaces for auto-learning – discomfort and contemplation in participatory dance performances’.

Tue 10.01.
Karin Harrasser will discuss the job description ‘researcher’ and introduce the IFK fellowship programme.
