Von der Hand in den Mund
Von der Hand in den Mund (Hand to Mouth) is a performative dinner, an edible installation, a sensuous discourse about taste and class. In a set-up inspired by the food and catering industries’ cosmos of commodities, Julischka Stengele creates a space of activity staging various dishes, the sampling of them, and a reflection on our sense of taste. Materialities, smells, aromas, colours and shapes combine with performative elements to create an aesthetic experience that involves all the senses. Ranging from guilty pleasure to poor people’s food, comestibles are examined in their role as status symbols and in creating a sense of identity. On a scale of 1 to 5 – how organic does the food you currently have in your mouth taste?
