PARASOL – a dance group of TQW 2024
PARASOL is a dance group at Tanzquartier Wien (TQW). Each year, a group of five emerging dancers and performers gets the opportunity to work with two choreographers on two dance pieces to be developed and performed at TQW.
PARASOL is a paid further training programme for young artists to experience and benefit from not only a three-month rehearsal period with each choreographer but also to further educate themselves in exchange with each other, the choreographers, and programmers. In addition to that, they can attend all kinds of events offered at TQW: performances, body and performance practices and theory lectures.
Since its inception in 2001, Tanzquartier Wien has been counted among Europe’s most influential dance centres. It focuses on dance and performance in its most contemporary forms.
In 2024, the working periods will be directed by the artists and choreographers Ulduz Ahmadzadeh and Elizabeth Ward.
Eligibility:
To take part in the 2024 PARASOL curriculum, you must:
- Be a professional dance artist/performer under 35 years
- Have a residence and working permit for the European Union
- Be available for the two working periods in Vienna:
16 January – 8 April 2024 AND 24 September – 16 December 2024 - Be available to meet Ulduz Ahmadzadeh and Elizabeth Ward at TQW Studios on Wednesday, 6 September 2023
Payment:
Tanzquartier Wien offers employment to all participants during the working periods. In detail: monthly € 1.300 (gross salary) for 20 hours per week
