Season review 2019/20

An unusual season lies behind us. Even though our focus is already on planning the autumn programme, we would like to look back on the 2019/20 season once again. After all, despite its early termination due to the coronavirus, it was marked by extraordinary artistic successes. One only needs to consider that Florentina Holzinger’s TANZ, the piece with which we opened this season, was eventually invited to the Theatertreffen in Berlin. A reprise at TQW is scheduled for November 2020. Remember the three completely sold-out performances of Doris Uhlich’s Habitat / Halle E – the first time, by the way, that an Austrian choreographer has presented her or his own work at our largest venue. Adaptions for Munich and Bern are already in preparation. No less unforgettable are this season’s TQW co-productions by Jefta van Dinther and Meg Stuart, which took place over three days each in the sold-out and almost magically charged Halle G.

We would like to thank all artists, all training & workshop teachers and our attentive and interested audience who made this season so unique. Keep dancing on your own. We’ll be back soon!

Music from Wir sind Henkel by Jakob Lena Knebl and Markus Pires Mata – another season’s highlight.
