BADEHAUS
BADEHAUS is a workshop exploring voice and movement practices in the luscious landscape of Badehaus Sargfabrik. We will invent new swimming strokes in the lap pool. We will take baths together and listen to each other’s submerged songs. We will play active and passive roles in sessions of partner aquatic bodywork, focusing in on the psychophysical effects of floating and being submerged. We will allow our voices to resonate in the cave of automatic polyphony and engage the materiality of sound to perform sonic massage. We will take a rest in the sauna. We will generate shower choreographies for peeping gazes of our own design. Then we will let go of all structure and explore the space as a whole in a group improvisation titled BADEHAUS PARTYHAUS. Alex Franz Zehetbauer holds a TQW Training Scholarship 2019.
born 1990 in Brooklyn, is a performance and music artist currently based in Vienna. He is obsessed with the environment of water and its effects on the physical and psychic state of the body. His underwater practice exploring submerged vocals and movement was the seed for his solo work wet dreaming at 52Hz, which he premiered March 2019 at Imagetanz.
Alex’s work has been supported by Leimay CAVE, Arts Unfold, INK Initiative, Arbeitsplatz Wien, Evening Hours NY, Tanzfabrik Berlin, APAP, Huggy Bears, brut Wien and Wien Kultur; he has been awarded the BKA Startstipendium für Musik und darstellende Kunst (2018), the TQW Training Scholarship (2019), and the danceWEB Scholarship (2019).
This workshop takes place on 30 November 2019; the first part from 17.00–19.00 at TQW Studios, and the second from 20.00–23.00 at Badehaus Sargfabrik.
