Countertechnique®
The Countertechnique® class is a contemporary dance technique class. Within a clear structure that leads up to a luscious movement combination in the end, the Countertechnique class prepares the body for rehearsals, performances, or simply for the day. The body is explored through a mix of practical anatomical information, set exercises and improvisation exercises. Throughout the session, awareness of the interconnection of physical and cognitive processes is sensitised, and coordination, stamina, strength, and flexibility are trained. In each class, a new tool from the Countertechnique toolbox is worked on together and then applied in the exercises. The goal is that the dancers learn to use the information independently and thus take something away from each lesson.
is a dancer from Vienna, where she started to dance from early on. Her choreographic work is intensely engaged in the field of Austrian modernist dance heritage and forgotten female histories, archive, and un-archiving, as well as the transmission of knowledge in and through dance. In her dance practice, she further explores the connection between movement and voice as ways of including the dancers’ voice and agency and touches on notions such as musicality, narrative, expressivity, biography and the fantastic. She trained in classical ballet at the Vienna State Opera and contemporary dance at Codarts Rotterdam. In 2023, she completed her MA in New Performative Practices at the Stockholm University of the Arts. Since 2016, she has been teaching Countertechnique and workshops across Europe and as a regular guest at the MUK – Music and Arts University Vienna.
