HOW TO SEE DIFFERENTLY?

Adriana Cubides

is born in Vienna to Colombian parents. She was educated in the field of dance and performance, specialized in performative practices and has an extensive experience in self-development and healing. She works across disciplines and formats and is continuously looking for ways to expand the borders of what something can be: be that a field, a role, a category, a concept or the way of defining reality. Her question of how to see differently and how to open new spaces within ourselves is entangled with her desire to find ways for performative strategies to become means for societal processes of transformation.

HOW TO SEE DIFFERENTLY?

Taking as a departure point my performative practice of multiple fronts and perspectives, that during the pandemic expanded to a digital format, we will explore a somatic relation to our surroundings in an active dialogue between body, space, and gaze. We will work on a permeable and porous quality between inside and outside, bringing a sense of touch to the eyes and allowing seeing to become a whole-body experience, expanding what we see into a sensorial encounter. We will cultivate a deep presence and awareness, navigating unpredictability and voicing the in-between while displacing, de-familiarizing, and decentralizing the perspectives of what we see. I will share my hybrid approaches with body practices and media and open space for experimenting further together.
