Listening Through the Edges of the Heard
This Morning Practice is designed to explore the screaming voice as a visceral form of study and sociality practice. Together, we will work with our voices—individually and collectively—embracing the raw, the abundant, and the untamed. We will learn different techniques to relate to each other, the space, and to the many voices within us, creating sonic and emotional abundance. In this practice, we will train ourselves to listen from the edges of the heard—those delicate spaces where sound fades into the unknown, and where listening becomes an embodied act of imagination and sociality. Listening will be approached as a constantly evolving membrane, an organ or antenna that we collectively build and tune. As we dive into these strident, hidden, and opaque edges of sound, we learn not just to listen but to hold each other and the sound itself. The voice will be our instrument, crafted through techniques of acoustic visualisations, screaming, and visceral expression. The voice will become a site for the relation between the many, where we support and amplify each other’s sounds, making room for both the loud and the subtle.
is a dance, voice and performance artist based in Vienna. Her work deals with the realms of the poetics and politics of vocal expression as a place of relation, imagination and transformation. She entangles singing, writing, dancing and speaking practices as bodily forms of study, experimentation and performance. Her pieces are sensitive and intense, casting polyphonically a convocation of voices and presences that yearn to move and to be moved. Her background stretches between philology, pedagogy, theater, music and contemporary dance. Fields that in one way or the other influence her artistic researches and modus operandi within art making and art presenting. Her work is strongly rooted locally, infiltrating the bigger dance and theater institutions from within, via the underground scene. She holds a Masters in Choreography from DAS Graduate school (Amsterdam Academy for Theatre and Dance). Her work has been shown amongst other in brut Wien, Tanzquartier Wien, Sophiensaele Berlin, Gessnerallee Zürich, de Singel Antwerp, La Casa Encendida Madrid.
