Morning Practice
Since the workshop of Jonathan Burrows and Bojana Cvejić, that was supposed to take to place at this period, had to be postponed to spring 2022, we would like to introduce you to the dancer and choreographer Lali Ayguadé from Barcelona. Lali has been nominated for the “Exceptional Dancer” and “Best Creator” categories at the London Critics’ Awards, and was nominated as “Best Dancer” for the Recomana Critics’ Awards in Barcelona. She starred in the short film Timecode, which won the 2016 Palme d’Or at the Festival de Cannes and was nominated for an Oscar, a. o. We hope that dancing with her will bring you a lot of joy!
In this morning practice the objective will be to learn how to use the floor when moving, emphasizing the work on the feet as a base and a support for the movement. Through phrases and improvisations, we will learn how to identify where the weight is and where to find the freedom in our movements. Also studying rhythm and voice, we will investigate how we can reach a theatrical physicality.
studied at the Liceu Conservatory and the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona before training at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels. She danced for the Publik Eye Company in Denmark and the contemporary circus company Baró d’Evel before joining Akram Khan Company as a full-time member. During her time there, she created and performed in the productions Kaash, Ma, Bahok (together with the National Ballet of China), Vertical Road and Confluence. As well as establishing Lali Ayguadé Company, she has collaborated and performed with various acclaimed choreographers including Hofesh Shechter, Roberto Olivan and Marcos Morau. Since 2013 she has been creating her own works such as Kokoro and iU an Mi. Lali is currently working on Hidden coproduced by Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, Bolzano Danza Festival and Temporada Alta.
