Observing Practice: TMTW
In this workshop we will explore four elements intrinsic to choreographic practice – touching, moving, talking, writing. Each has the same duration, and the “how” is left open in order to bring out the expert in us. The characteristic ways each of us sees things come to the fore and this becomes a subject of research. We observe how we work, see, and think. The practices act as a mirror, a reflexive space where we can collectively and individually discover and invent. Your own experience, curiosity and desire to share, are the fuel for experimenting with emerging forms, shared knowledge, new ways of being together with our choreographic questions. Please bring a notebook and something to write with.
researches complex relationships between gesture, spectatorship, language, and perception, in a playful and urgent manner. Before moving to France in 2010, she lived and worked in New York City for 20 years. The works documented in her long-term project A catalogue of steps were created at The Matzoh Factory in Brooklyn, a haven for wild experimentation created with choreographer Jennifer Monson.
Teaching and working in pedagogical situations with other artists is an important component of her artistic practice. She is currently Associated Artist at the CDCN Le Dancing in Dijon.
