On Earth I’m Done: Islands
This workshop will provide an in-depth experience of the On Earth I´m Done: Islands material. We will explore the different bodies of this work and their compositional strategies. In On Earth I’m Done: Islands, the performer embodies a creature that looks back and tries to remember a world long gone. Like settlers on an alien planet, the inhabitants must learn to live anew. The key is the learning process; in an instant, these hyperaware and advanced beings pick up details from each other, process and inhabit them whilst keeping their own integrity. This is how new and disparate logics are created. We will take our time to dive into this vast universe, embody this creature and play with the freedom of movement and instant composition within these logics. Diverting away from the actual performance of On Earth I’m Done: Islands, we will create our own trip using the tools of the performance but allowing us the creative freedom of the group present.
As there is much work on the floor, and on the knees, like crawling and kneeling, we suggest the participants bring kneepads.
a Cullberg dancer and original cast creating On Earth I’m Done: Islands with Jefta van Dinther, will be leading this workshop.
