Performance Practice
A mix of performance and practice. A performance for ourselves, a practice for the audience or the other way round? There is no way to know. This class is something we do when we are not doing something else, or in fact, it’s like being in a workshop wishing to be somewhere else, someone else.
Performance Practice attempts to engage with open and failed processes as both modes of resistance and ways to address an audience directly and accidentally. To work with immaterial practices, through or with an institution, for or with an audience, often means being misunderstood. The workshop is itself a performative platform to investigate these misunderstandings through practical and impractical task-based work, discipline as self-care and attempts to engage with amateur Argentinian tango.
born in 1981 in Tallinn, Estonia, is an artist, performer, stand-up comedian, and dancer based in Vienna. They studied choreography at ArteZ and Fine Arts at the Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam. Recent exhibitions and performances include the Baltic Triennial 14, Vilnius 2021; You’re So Busy at Shedhalle, Zürich, 2021/2022; Thinking Like an Octopus, Wilhelm-Hack-Museum, Ludwigshafen, 2021; Art for Animals: A Perspective Change, Opelvillen Stiftung, Rüsselsheim, 2020/2021; Cohabitation, Silent Green, Berlin 2021.
