Radical Softness

In her current work, Claire Lefèvre is exploring “radical softness”, a movement born as a response to patriarchy’s discomfort with anything overly sensitive and vulnerable, anything emotional, anything which associates itself with femininity. Embracing the idea that unapologetically sharing your emotions is a political move, “radical softness” is about de-stigmatizing sensitivity in people of all genders and finding strength in one’s softheartedness.

In this workshop we will explore “radical softness” not only as a political and aesthetic statement, but also as a sensory and tactile embodied experience. Claire will share elements of her research, such as soft dances and whisper practices. There will be a massage corner and a place to write love songs, as well as soft and fuzzy fabrics to cozy-up into. The first part of the workshop will be guided, and the second half will be an open frame for gentle experimentation.

Claire Lefèvre holds a TQW Training Scholarship 2019.
