Rhythm – Flow – Groove
The training focuses on the practice of dancing as a rhythmical activity. We will gradually access movement through a series of somatic-based tasks to stimulate the absorption into a flow experience. During the initial part, we will work on alignment, creating space within, and in between, body parts to set the conditions to move smoothly and freely. We want to sharpen and awaken sensitivity to movement for the body to be available to receive and convey information. Alternating set sequences and guided improvisation represent the basic framework through which different modalities of phrasing movements can be playfully practiced. During the online sessions, we will take advantage of the space limitation to search for alternative ways of generating volume, alternating explosive to controlled, taking the sensation of groove as a source of our dancing.
is a dance artist, teacher and choreographer currently living in Vienna. His approach to movement is influenced by his background as a hip-hop dancer, targeting aspects of dance practice such as rhythmicality and interactivity. At present, he regularly collaborates with the choreographer Helene Weinzierl, touring her pieces nationally and internationally. Since 2009, Alberto has been working for several dance companies such as EgriBianco Danza, Oper Graz Tanzkompanie and Norrdans.
In 2019, he co-initiated, together with Martina De Domincis, debocs.com, an ongoing documentation project related to their choreographic research as a duo. Together, they created yet to be born (2019), a piece that deals with our perception of a transformation. As a teacher, Alberto has held workshops for different venues and festivals such as Internationale Bühnenwerkstatt (AT), Divadlo Štúdio Tanca Festival (SK), Festival Spectrum (Villach, AT), tanzimpulse Salzburg (AT) Universidad Nacional de Heredia (CR) and Play Practice Artistic Residency (IN).
