Release/Holistic Dance Technique
In these classes we will focus on moving from the core. In contemporary dance we define the center, the physical core, as something that helps us to stay grounded and three-dimensional in our movement, as well as a source of power for subtle and awakened presence. Released and defined at the same time. How do we transition from one to the other, does it ever stay the same?
Core can also mean the core tissues such as bones, organs, cells. We will relate to these structures through touch, imagery and movement developmental patterns. Bodywork allows us to explore and experience our inner structures, breathwork deepens our bodyconsciousness and sensitivity.
Riding the Bones of the Tiger also means riding the waves of our expression, our inner animal, using its power and archetypal forces. Combining this performance approach with technical material moves us into becoming a beautifully holistic, embodied dancer.
is the head and founder of the Holistic Dance Institute (founded in 2010). Her professional experience spans over 30 years as a dancer, choreographer, teacher, bodyworker, author and organiser in the US, Europe, Russia, Israel and Brazil. Transformation through dance, movement and touch has been Sabine’s personal and professional journey. She studied Modern Dance at Columbia College in Chicago (Bachelor of Arts) and danced professionally in Chicago and New York between 1989 and 1997.
After returning to Austria she taught for 14 years as a holistic dance pedagogue in a rehabilitation centre for traumatised patients after work- and traffic accidents. From her perspectives both as an artist and as a healer, Sabine combines improvisational and technical aspects of contemporary dance, somatic and healing aspects of many different BodyMind methods and transformational tools from systemic psychotherapy, dance therapy and original tantra.
