Studio Picknick
For one Saturday afternoon Robert Steijn transforms the dance studio in a place, where we can get together as a community, dream and exchange our thoughts freely, without any hierarchy. Robert organizes a gathering in the studio as a picnic. A ritual with a breeze of wind by opening the windows and we can meet and talk while laying down and relaxing. Coming together will provide an opportunity to exchange personal views about dance, (performing) arts, different training approaches and practices, especially in these roaring times. What is the state of the dance community in Vienna at the moment and what does it need? Questions and answers will be explored in different settings of intimacy, variating from one-to-one conversations to group discussions. Come with an empty stomach, and with an unprepared or prepared mind. All voices must be heard. Perhaps some things have to be grilled.

Together with the Mexican choreographer Ricardo Rubio he runs the School of tender thinking, combining spirituality, art and healing practices, inspired by plant medicine and trance rituals. Their last performances are the avocado project and tunes for the living. His last solo is called Esoteric dancing (Vienna, 2021). Lately he has worked with the choreographers Inger-Reidun Olsen, Marianne Skjeldal, Elle van Campenhout, Jasmina Krizaj, Simon Wehrli, Maria Hassabi, Lisa Hinterreither, Salome Schneebelli. Currently he collaborates with Daniel Zimmermann at a movie called Der Wurf.
