the thinking body in the anthrophocene
In this class you will be guided through proposals which are part of Karin’s artistic practice connected to her work -cycle dances of the anthropocene. This practice understands our bodies fundamentally as part of the (natural) world and not separate from or privileged to it. Working with the idea of the thinking body, we explore ways for making in-betweens tangible.
We further investigate relational aspects of performing. Sculpting relations between our bodies and concepts or imaginations, between one another, between performer and audience, between our bodies and the space, between sound and motion, we develop tools for internal scores which bring clarity and accessibility to what our bodies communicate. Working with the effects of a body exposed to current environmental conditions, the class itself can be viewed as a ritual of soft resistance and tender activism.
This is an invitation to think collectively through our bodies about how we want to shape our relations.
