This training runs from 14 till 18 May 2018.
The Berlin-based choreographer Nir de Volff / TOTAL BRUTAL developed in the past few years the USE-ABUSE movement method. USE-ABUSE is a technique that sets the physical structure in relation to the breath and examines its harmonic or disharmonious interaction. It addresses areas of the body that are often ignored unconsciously and tries to fill them with new liveliness. The method searches for harmonisation and coordination between the body and the emotions of dancers, actors and performers. It encourages physical freedom and sincerity and encourages to drop any self-criticism. USE-ABUSE has been invited to prestigious dance centres worldwide and returns now to TQW.
was born in Israel, where he studied dance and took his first steps into the local professional companies. In Tel Aviv he was a guest for Pina Bausch’s Viktor at the Israeli Opera House. In 2000 he moved to Amsterdam and started to create his own work. In 2004 he moved to Berlin and created his first piece for Tanztage Berlin at Sophiensaele. In summer 2007 he founded his company TOTAL BRUTAL. Nir de Volff has worked in collaboration with artists such as She She Pop at HAU Berlin, Falk Richter at Schaubühne Berlin, Katarina Niminnen at Volksbühne, and Fouad Muhamed (Cairo).
De Volff creates international cultural exchange projects mixing social-political subjects with entertainment. TOTAL BRUTAL collaborates with a wide range of professional performers and with different theatres. The productions have been shown in theatres and festivals worldwide. De Volff’s first solo piece Love & Loneliness in the 21. Century dates back to 2016. For his recent project Come as you are #2017 he worked with three Syrian dancers/refugees living in Berlin.
