Venus Is Rising

Friederike Heine

is a freelance performer, dancer and choreographer. She studied eurhythmics at Alanus Hochschule für Kunst und Gesellschaft and took part in study programmes for contemporary dance at The World Is Sound, Nomadic College and ImPulsTanz. Her artistic work makes use of the discursive potentials embedded in the body and explores diverse forms of authorships that show (self-)reflective structures.

In doing so, she analyses concepts of authenticity, vulnerability and sensibleness through dance, language and physical action. She has worked with artists such as Moritz Majce, Sandra Man, Adriana Cubides, Anne Collod and she has created interdisciplinary work at the intersection of economics and philosophy. Heine has also recently performed at Tanz im August (Berlin) and she is 2018 TQW Scholarship Artist.

Venus Is Rising

there is this new body that lives among women, on the island of the naked. there is this body that heals its skin from inside. that feels its surface as much as it feels all organs, muscles and tissues.
there is this female, vulva, vagina power that has a voice, singing the old words from past lives that are stronger than bodies.
there is light and brightness, space wide space opening up to receive.
there is the urge to encounter to be touched to be eaten to be loved.
there is the brutal reality of gentleness of an open heart.

In this workshop, we will create a ritual of gentleness for each other. It is an invitation to experiment together with gentleness, sensuality, desire of the female body. In this common research, we will work with a synaesthetic approach using our imagination, movement, touch, sensing, words, sound. We will draw lines on our body and print new symbols on bare skin to inscribe each our own female body. We will give voice to our inner strength and see each other with ten thousand eyes. Form a circle of female bodies, encounter with openness and listen to each other. Or maybe just pee standing up.

This workshop is aimed at people who identify as women.
