Voice Practice
The core of this training is about experiencing the deep correlation between voice, body and breath, and how the voice affects the movement – and vice versa. We will take a journey through the different resonators of the body generating the voice and find out about the body parts initiating it. Another focus is set on the exploration of the tension between inside/outside, sound/silence, movement/stillness, own voice/environment, individual voice/common voice. This will help develop an awareness, which allows to stay tuned with the present moment, and a feeling for rhythm and dynamic between these two poles. The training is structured in a body and a voice warm up, rhythm and improvisation exercises, which will progressively awaken our body and voice presence.
is a performer, singer and linguist. As a performer, she appeared in several international productions. Since 1996 in Vienna, she has collaborated with Georg Blaschke, Bilderwerfer, Miki Malör, Paul Wenninger, Konnex, Navaridas & Deutinger and Otmar Wagner.
Between 2001 and 2017 she was a member of the performance group toxic dreams. Besides creating her own work, since 2006 Irene has been doing research on Sicilian and South Italian traditional music. In 2008 she created her own music ensemble. Irene is a member of cowbirds, a collective researching and performing monodic and polyphonic songs from Corsica and Sicily.
