Workshop on Stage

Hearth
Magdalena Forster

is a choreographer and performer whose work explores relations to material, sculpture and sound. She engages with space through intuitive curiosity, flirting with the potentials of the unpredictable. Her practice turns to personal documentation and kinetic archives to recode a sense of anchoring and belonging, centring attention on detail and intimacy. Her work has been presented at Tanzquartier Wien, Kunstraum Niederoesterreich, Kunsthaus Zürich, Angewandte Interdisciplinary Lab and the Sonic Territories Festival, among others.

Milena Georgieva

is a composer and transdisciplinary artist born in Sofia and based in Vienna. Currently, her work delves into interspecies and inter-spatial relationships, exploring sound, symbiosis, landscape theory, queer feminism, and identity politics. In her compositions, she seeks a fluid, unbound sense of music and listening, activating complex and multidimensional sound bodies by interlacing diverse genres and musical practices. Georgieva also performs under the moniker Yuzu. Her work has been presented at Angewandte Innovation Lab, Tanzquartier Wien, Kunsthalle Wien, Kunsthaus Zürich, Goethe-Institut Sofia, Wiener Festwochen, ImPulsTanz, Unsafe+Sounds, a. o.

Workshop on Stage

Hearth

In the stage setting of Hearth, choreographer Magdalena Forster and Milena Georgieva (composition and live sound) trace the metamorphic quality of ore with the participants and offer insights into the mysticism and semantics that surround blacksmithing. The workshop approaches these topics playfully with choreographic patterns of movement by working with voice, material and sound, as well as the multisensory experience of vibration and resonance. No prior knowledge is required to attend.
