Workshop on Stage
Soso, Etudes is an invitation to practice Samuel Feldhandler’s Aural Etudes along with dance material from the piece Soso.
Aural Etudes means listening to music and copying what we hear as dance. The gesture of ‘copying’, which can be understood through its etymology as to be ‘with resources’, ‘to abound’, ‘to be (with) many’, ‘in relation’, and ‘not alone’, is primordial here as a tool to learn from another without understanding, comprehending nor owning this other.
The workshop will be a playful journey of dancing together through improvised explorations embodying various music genres, some movement exercises inspired by musical scales and, here and there, a few dance phrases from the quintet Soso.
was born in France in 1993 and has been living in Vienna since 2019. Having created his first choreographic pieces in 2012, Feldhandler writes dance in various forms. He has worked with Anne Juren, Alix Eynaudi, Elizabeth Ward and Christine Gaigg, among others. Feldhandler holds a bachelor’s degree in contemporary dance from the University of the Arts in Amsterdam and a master’s degree in choreography from DOCH, Stockholm. His most recent piece, Georges tremble, was dedicated to his grandfather and was shown at Weld (Stockholm) after its premiere at Tanzquartier Wien.
When purchasing a workshop ticket, you will receive a discounted performance ticket for € 7.
