This warm-up class has been developed over the years parallel to Alexander Gottfarb’s dance and choreographic work. It focuses on breathing, circular movements and repetition, all in a simple structure that enables the participant to concentrate on the execution of the movements. The exercises have been collected and developed for the purpose of preparing the body for a rehearsal day, regardless of what might come. However, it can also be treated as a training form for dancers in periods with more “in-office” (over–the-laptop) activity. The intensity can be individually adapted according to the daily state of the body and the environment it will act in. If you want to sweat you will!
graduated from the Stockholm Ballet Academy in 2003. The Swedish artist lives in Vienna. As a dancer, he has worked with choreographers Elio Gervasi, Iztok Kovač, Chris Haring / Liquid Loft and Björn Säfsten, among others. He is a founding member of The Loose Collective. In 2009, he created the association Archipelago, together with Anna Maria Nowak, and has since created his own artistic work.
Alexander Gottfarb’s interest in examining politically (Political Movements, 2010) or religiously (Moved by Faith, 2011) motivated forms of movement was already evident in his earlier pieces. His latest creations are Negotiations (2018), a year-long dance performance taking place every day between 10.00 and 18.00 at TQW Filiale and Encounters, a 50-hour dance performance, which, due to the coronavirus, was broadcast live in its entirety in December 2020. The dancer and choreographer uses motifs of repetition and transformation, discipline and exhaustion in his work.
